Carmen completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) majoring in Music Education in December 2008 at the ‘National Experimental University of Arts (UNEARTE) in Venezuela, after which she undertook a Bachelor of Music Performance (B.Mus) majoring in Saxophone at the same institution.


Carmen held the role as Professor of Saxophone at the Simón Bolívar Conservatory in the National Youth Orchestras System in Venezuela from 2003-2010. This role included not only individual lessons for all saxophone students, but also included coordinating ensembles, exams, competitions and festivals.
 
Carmen is dedicated to the study of original academic repertoire for saxophone, chamber music, and orchestral repertoire. She is a strong believer in youth education and introducing students to the joys of both saxophone and music.
 
Since in Australia, she has collaborated to create the ‘Saxophone Academy Sydney’ holding the title of Artistic Director and also founded Alianza Ensembles and The Sydney Saxophone Collective. As a performer Carmen regularly performs around Australia with many of Sydney’s leading chamber ensembles as well as performing regularly with the NSW police band. Carmen recently performed at the Australian Clarinet and Saxophone Festival in 2011 and the XVI World Saxophone Congress in Scotland in 2012.
 
Carmen has also been an instrumental teacher at Clovelly Public School (2012-2013) and is currently tutoring at St. Andrews Cathedral Scool, Loreto Kirribilli, Moriah College along with her Private Teaching Studio in Mosman. Carmen has also performed as a guest musician for many HSC music students.
